The Basics of Theatre Makeup
To make an actor seem older, a lighter foundation can be used to make shadows and highlights that appear to be wrinkles. wrinkles are commonly applied to the forehead, right under the eyes, and on the mouth and chin. Liquid latex can also be used to make one appear older. Talcum powder or hair whitener can be used to make their hair appear to be greying.
Many productions include some weird creatures: monsters, beasts, and clowns to name just a few. This is typically where prosthetics come into play. These include liquid latex, nose putty, and derma wax, which can be used to create cuts, scars, and other skin blemishes.
These kinds of looks can include outlandish lip tones and highlight colors. Many times these will include puttys to shape the face in an unusual way. The point of these looks are to make the character seem otherworldly, like this actor who is portraying a werewolf.
